Roscomare Gives Back
At Roscomare we not only have families that give to our wonderful school to cover the costs of our great programs, we also understand the importance of giving back to the greater community. Here’s a glimpse of a few of the things we’ve been up to:
Trees for the Future – Organized by parent volunteers, we buy our yearbooks from Treering.com, a company that works with Trees for the Future and plants a tree for every yearbook our school purchases.
Candy for Troops & First Responders – Each year after Halloween, Roscomare sends candy to troops and first responders. Our school donates hundreds of pounds of candy every year – way to go Roscomare!
Volunteer League – Volunteer League is currently the only non-profit that provides clothing needs to LAUSD children K-12 and LAUSD Homeless Ed Department middle and high school students. Children are referred to the Volunteer League by school nurses, social workers, principals, and counselors. Friends of Roscomare has donated to this organization several times throughout the year through our lost and found. Our last donation was before summer break 2020 and we’ll be donating again in fall 2021. To learn more about the Volunteer League click here. Due to Covid this organization stopped taking in used clothes so we have donated some imperfect new clothing from our retail store and will be donating the used clothes to families in need.

Toy Drive – every year our Student Council organizes a Toy Drive before the winter holidays, bringing new toys to underprivileged children in the community. Please remember to drop off new unwrapped toys in the office in early December. The deadline to bring them is typically the first week in December. Our local Fire Department #108 or #99 come by with their fire truck, drive onto our school yard, greet our students and pick up boxes of new toys. |

Book Drive – Every few years, the Student Council organizes a book drive collecting new or gently-used books for needy students in elementary schools.
Socks - Each year, Roscomare families collect new socks for Socktober! This third-grade community service project is always a huge success and provides a lot of warmth to cold feet every winter!
